Thank you for your interest in The Philadelphia School!

TPS is a vibrant, progressive learning community.  We believe that education should be embedded in authentic, real-world experiences.  It is our goal to create an environment where students learn respect for the individual, respect for the community, and respect for democratic ideals. 

Active, experiential learning is at the heart of what we do.  Children learn best when challenged to formulate the questions that guide their learning.  Teachers are facilitators who guide students of all ages through the process of managing their time, making choices, researching using a variety of sources, gathering and organizing data, working collaboratively, and solving problems.  We take a thematic approach to learning and use both city and country resources to enhance the work in our classrooms, adding purpose and meaning to the educational experience.

We welcome the opportunity to show you our school.  Please join us at our Admission Open House on Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m.  The open house is a wonderful way to tour the school, see classrooms and facilities, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about our dynamic curriculum and educational philosophy.   If you would like to attend, please RSVP to fhoover@tpschool.org with your name and the number of people attending.  While an RSVP is not required (you may certainly attend without letting us know beforehand), it does help our planning to have a head count.
